I set sail…

“Who am I?” I asked myself this question many times in the past. For 13 years, I was working in commercial roles for one of the most valued automotive suppliers in the world. Why wasn’t I happy when everyone I spoke to envied me for being part of this amazing brand? I dug deeper into my values: tolerance, freedom, honesty, respect, open-mindedness. Accepting everyone for who they are, respecting each other, respecting our planet.

I took up voluntary work collecting donations for refugees. It was a fulfilling but eye-opening experience. I became motivated to explore more and found that the refugee crisis was just a small cog in the giant system of society and our planet. In the scale of things, my contribution was tiny, but I met many like-minded people and found that together, we can make a difference.

Who am I? I am a person who cares about the environment and people and who wants to work towards a sustainable future.

I researched some more and took up a part-time online course run by University of Cambridge’s Institute for Sustainability Leadership. It was amazing and I realized quickly that this is my passion. I want to be part of this movement. I want a career in sustainability, but first I needed to learn more. I left my job and took up a full-time master in Sustainability, Entrepreneurship and Design.

This was last year. Today, I am finished with my studies and in search for a job in an area that I love. Wish me luck!
